As you touchdown in Nepal, you make friends with a unique companion who never lets you go out of sight, the mighty Himalayan Range. Home to eight out of the 10 highest peaks globally, Nepal is an enchanted kingdom that captures your heart. Nestled in the Himalayan crevice, Nepal is a mecca for tourists with unique architectural marvels, traditions, and wildlife aside from its signature topography.
As you wander into the Hanuman Dhoka or the Durbar Square, you walk into a 2500-year-old historical splendor. You will be awestruck by the historical heritage that spreads out in front of your eyes. The intricately carved walls whisper of the eras where kings were coronated. Indeed, as the courtyards and gardens lead your way, you are given a feel of royalty. This is the land where a young girl who passes through a ritualistic test is regarded as the ‘Living Goddess.’
Amongst many other things, a visit to the Swayambhunath Stupa and Boudhanath Stupa with Buddhist flags fluttering in the wind and the distant chants of the monks make it a truly spiritual voyage. Similarly, a visit to the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, a UNESCO Heritage site, brings you closest to Nirvana. Furthermore, a visit to the World Peace Pagoda in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, is yet another masterpiece in Nepal’s borders. Moreover, exploration of the Durbar Squares of Patan and Bhaktapur also showcases unparalleled craftsmanship.
Rise above the Himalayan Ranges in a Heli charter to see Mount Everest tower over you. A visit to Pokhara opens up the panoramic Annapurna massif that nestles Lake Phewa. Breathtakingly beautiful and serene, Pokhara is a tourist’s paradise. Adventure sports like trekking, paragliding, kayaking, and boating are a huge draw. As a colorful chute hovers over the Phewa Lake, one cannot help but fall in love with this window to heaven. Moreover, see the sun kiss the peaks of the Himalayan ranges as it rises from your balcony in Nagarkot.
Walk around the village with your guide to get a feel of Nepalese life that is seemingly frozen in time. Untouched by urban life, capture the existence of the simple folks of Nepal known for their hospitality. Indulge in their local cuisine, which is simply a delight. Relish the lentil soup cooked with a dash of turmeric, cumin, and coriander or the steaming momos found everywhere. Furthermore, enjoy a traditional Tharu dance. Similarly, you can hum along as the locals sing the melodies that talk of the majestic mountains and the verdant valleys. This culture is an amalgamation of millions of years and many ethnicities that Nepalese people have carefully preserved.
But, if you thought Nepal was all about mountains, a visit to Chitwan will surely change that. Chitwan will make you gasp at the immense flora and fauna bestowed on Nepal. Chitwan opens up like a wondrous place full of animals like the Royal Bengal Tiger, one-horned rhinoceros, the giant Asiatic elephants roaming in their natural habitat. The bright skies are filled with birds, the marshes filled with reptiles, some exotic and endangered like the gharial. A thrilling safari is something that certainly offers you this voyage into Asia’s success story in conservation.
The craftsmanship of the temples, the towering mountain ranges, the culture and traditions that have stood the test of time await your arrival. Buddha had preached, “Radiate boundless love towards the entire world.” Come to Nepal and witness the same being practiced to this day. In all, heaven is a myth; Nepal is real.
